Meet Tarik, our Marketing Communications + Content Specialist. Tarik keeps our clients’ brands alive online – from scroll-stopping social content to the stories that make a brand actually mean something. She’s got a genuine love for getting under the skin of a brand and figuring out how to tell its story properly.
1. What do you do at Coast?
I help manage Marcomms & Social Media for Coast and our clients – bringing brands to life online and making sure they’ve got something worth stopping the scroll for.
2. What is your favourite thing about working at Coast?
Has to be the people. Everyone is so knowledgeable in their own area and genuinely keen to share that knowledge. It makes for a pretty special place to grow creatively.
3. How are you creative or innovative in your role at Coast?
I love storytelling. Getting to truly know a brand or client and helping translate who they are into the online world is my favourite part. Every brand has a story – you’ve just got to find the best way to tell it.
4. Describe the vibe at Coast and why you chose to work there
The vibe is buzzing. Everyone throws themselves into every project, so you always feel like you’re creating something together. Plus, working with all our different awesome clients, there’s never a dull day.
5. What unique flavour you bring to the team?
I’m surprisingly good at limbo, so I’m confident that’ll become a highly valuable workplace skill at some point.
6. If you were a character from a famous film or book, who would you be and why?
Jake the Dog from Adventure Time. Adventurous, adaptable, doesn’t take himself too seriously, and finds a creative solution to any problem.
Plus, a pretty solid reminder that “dude, sucking at something is the first step to being sorta good at something.”
7. What is your fav piece of clothing?
Love a pair of cargo pants – especially on shoot days. Functional, comfy and the pockets do some serious heavy lifting.
8. What is your vice when faced with a challenge?
Normally the house plant aisle at Bunnings. Never met a hard week a new Alocasia couldn’t fix.
9. What would your proud Mum/Dad/partner say about you?
They’d probably say I’m someone who genuinely cares about the people around me. I’m always there to lend a hand, and I put a lot of care into whatever I’m working on.
10. Who is someone that has inspired you in life?
Both my parents. They always backed themselves, worked hard and made time to be with the people they love. That’s something I’ve always admired.
