Working closely with Jon Rhodes and Steve Bush, Coast was proud to champion the template and layout design of Cage of Ghosts. Throughout the entire production, Coasties Jimmy Evans, Shane and Chris O’Brien worked tirelessly to ensure it was of the highest quality and the content was represented at its best. Regarding design, Jon was meticulous about every detail; from letter spacing within each line of text, to the kerning in every heading. Extensive time was also spent creating multiple custom maps which were used through the book. These have become a highlight of the book itself and the story it tells.
The result is an outstanding example of timeless publishing design – a 316 page Australian history book that went on to winning the 2019 NSW Premier’s Community and Regional History Award.
