With a population of approx. 310,000 and encompassing both Camden and Campbelltown, the beautiful Macarthur region is only a stone’s throw from the Sydney CBD, yet boasts all the charms of the country.
Macauthur needed to increase the impact of their digital presence and contacted Coast seeking to create a content hub that would bring together the best of their region, inspiring both tourists and local residents alike. Coast was engaged to reconfigure the site navigation, re-invigorate the design and improve overall user experience; allowing for engaging and intuitive ways to access information across all sectors. Our plan was to drive traffic, improve average time spent on the site, plus engage users via valuable and easily-accessible content. To do this, we needed a creative strategy that focussed on a customer-focussed design and a digital experience that had the wow factor, yet was practical and easy to use.
Website Design & Development
Coast had the pleasure of wire-framing, designing and building a new Macarthur website that was optimised for both desktop, mobile and tablet; also supported by common browsers. The site was created with the end user in mind; think food lovers, sports fanatics and brides to be; and features content that promotes the latest events, attractions, accommodation and tours. We worked in collaboration with the Australian Tourism Data Warehouse (ATWD) to bring across third-party content that was going to hit the mark and complement our design. The Macarthur tourism website also integrates with the below custom 3rd party/custom built services:
Syncing system with ATDW via a custom-built API
Trip Advisor Module via API for listing types
Wotif/Booking.com book now buttons for appropriate providers
Integration of e-newsletter delivery system for monthly events listings
SVG Interactive maps of the region and surrounds create a beautiful visual reference
By adopting a contemporary approach to design that allows content to shine, has ensured that high-quality imagery and captivating copy has taken centre-stage in promoting such an incredible region. Creating a customer-focused digital experience that was easy to use and interact with, has meant that visitations and time spent on the site have increased significantly since it was first launched.
